Statement on the Resignation of Toby Philpott as Parliamentary Candidate
Toby Philpott resigned as the Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Folkestone & Hythe Constituency on Sunday.
New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.

The BBC have featured Dhan Gurung as the first Gurkha councillor to take office in Britain, as he promised to represent the whole community in Cheriton. Lib Dem Councillor Dhan Gurung, 39, was voted on to Folkestone Town Council in last Thursday's local elections. He served as a Gurkha in the British Army for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2004.
The Liberal Democrats have taken 11 seats on Folkestone Town Council, taking control of the 18 seat council. Thank you to all those who supported us.
