New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
" Whatever were our anxieties about the justification for war, now that military action in Iraq has begun, we all hope and pray that it can be concluded as swiftly as possible with minimal casualties. My thoughts are particularly with our British service personnel in the Gulf and their families at home. I know that we, as a country, will unite in supporting them."
More needs to be done to attract new jobs, shops and leisure facilities to Folkestone say local Lib Dems. Folkestone's Town Centre has never been in a worse state according to many local residents.
Local Lib Dems are pledging to improve recycling across the Folkestone and Hawkinge area if elected to run Shepway Council in May. They believe the Conservative run Council has not done enough to provide a decent service to local people.
