New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
Shepway District Council has submitted a formal application for outline planning permission for six houses on the part of Cheriton Recreation Ground between the Bowls Club and Weymouth Road.
Detailed research by the Liberal Democrats into the May election results across Shepway has shown that Labour got less that 2% of the valid votes across the district. Labour came SIXTH in terms of their vote across the area, trailing the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Shepway Independents, People First and Independents!
Following the disqualification of a Conservative councillor for failing to sign her papers of acceptance, there will be a by-election for Pantiles and St Mark's Ward of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council on 13th September. There are also a series of by-elections in Dover on 27th September: in Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory District Ward, Aylesham District Ward and the Dover Town County Electoral Division.
