Thanks to a Lib Dem initiative, people in Hythe can now contact their Town Councillors in a new way.

From October, Hythe Town Councillors will trialling monthly drop-in "surgeries" for local people. Anyone can attend these surgeries, and different Councillors will attend each month.

The first surgery will be held on Saturday the 4th October, with Cllr June Nolan and Cllr Jackie Gandy attending to listen to local people's questions.

Cllr Nolan said "When we stood for election in May we told local people that we would listen and be contactable. These surgeries are one of the new initiatives we are introducing to keep local people informed of what the Council is doing."

Cllr Gandy said "People are welcome to come to the surgery with a problem or question, or simply to find out more about what we are doing on a certain issue. Even if we can't help everyone who comes, we can try to direct them to someone who can!"

The scheme will be reviewed in three month's time to evaluate how effective and popular it has been.

The surgeries will be held on the first Saturday of each month between 10:30am and 12 noon in Hythe Town Hall. No appointments are needed.
