Initial MoD proposals to redevelop parts of Shorncliffe & Risborough Barracks have been redrawn. New plans show that after lobbying by local residents the Church Road Stadium has now been protected.
Cllr Dhan Gurung said:
"It's great the Stadium will now be protected.
"I'm pleased the MoD are committed to updating the remaining camp, where I used to be based. The redevelopment is important to that plan."
Cllr Tim Prater added: "Before plans are agreed, we need more changes.
"Horn Street rail bridge needs widening. It's just not big enough. We need more open space protected, and more facilities like a medical centre. And overall, there still seem to be more houses proposed than reasonable for the area."
