Better Play Time for Young People of Cheriton

New dynamic play equipment specifically aimed at toddlers and teenagers has been added to Cheriton Recreational Ground.

Using development levies aimed at improving local infrastructure, Folkestone & Hythe District Council has invested nearly £70,000 into 14 pieces of apparatus to complement the existing offering on Stanley Road.

Somersault bars, a turbo carousel and a cliff rider are just some of the thrilling extras aimed at youngsters up to the age of 14.

Meanwhile, toddlers can now enjoy a seesaw, a sunflower-inspired swing and a tipi carousel – alongside upgraded imaginative play opportunities.

Connor McConville, Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation, said:

“I’m really pleased we’ve managed to accommodate a wider age range as this is something residents have been asking for. 

“We are committed to investing in local communities, including our young people – as demonstrated by this and the recent £750,000 refurbishment of the Lower Leas Coastal Park fun zone.”

Meanwhile, nearly 250 residents shared their views in a recent survey. These will be used to help design work planned at Seabrook, Lydd and East Cliff play areas later this year.
