18 Aug 2006

The Kentish Express has reported that in June and July, Folkestone Town Council spend £31,000 of its set and advertised annual budget of around £490,000. As a comparison, Shepway District Council has a budget of £16.2 million a year, and spends on average £44,383 a DAY. Kent County Council has a budget of £1.43 billion for this year - spending around £4 million per DAY.

Folkestone Town Council was set up just over 2 years ago and costs Folkestone Council tax payers around 50p per week. Within that budget it supports the activities of the Mayor, provides a range of local services (and is planning and budgeting to take on more) and provides funding for a range of projects across Folkestone.
