Some of the results of Tim's Coolinge Lane litter pick

Folkestone West Councillor Tim Prater took matters into his own hands on Thursday when alerted to a litter problem in Coolinge Lane, Sandgate and cleared litter himself in a "10 minute litter pick". In the time, Tim collected handfuls of rubbish including bottles, fast food wrappers and a 2 metre length of Stagecoach bus ticket!

Tim Prater commented:

"I probably cleared half the litter on the stretch of Coolinge Lane that I concentrated on, but there was still plenty left - next time I'll take a bigger bag! I've asked Shepway Council previously for a litter bin in Coolinge Lane to help deal with the problem here, but I'm told they are currently 'reviewing' bin provision and until that's done, no bin.

"I don't understand why we can't at least have a temporary bin in Coolinge Lane - to be able to pick up that much litter in 10 minutes shows there is a real problem here."
