Counting down the seconds for secondary applications

Families of Year 6 children in Kent who are going to start secondary school in September 2011 have just two weeks left to submit their application. The official closing date is Sunday 31 October. However, because of the October school holiday, Kent County Council will accept applications as 'on time' up until Friday 5 November.

Thousands of families from Kent and neighbouring areas will be submitting up to three schools of their choice. The easiest way to apply is online. Last year more than 13,000 families submitted their secondary school preferences via www.kent.gov.uk/ola

Children who sat the Kent Test will find out if they were assessed for grammar or high school this week. Families who registered online for the test will receive an email after 4pm today (18 October). Letters will be sent to all families this afternoon to arrive on doormats from tomorrow.
