The Mayor felt the surge of pride in the brave men and women who went out in small boats to bring our soldiers back.

Seeing the 70th Anniversary flotilla brought home to him the enormity of the rescue armada and the debt we all owe to their selflessness. It was an interesting visit to speak with other dignitaries about the importance of the celebration and marking of the moment.
