Earthquake Repairs: Beware Rogue Traders and Call your Insurance Company

30 Apr 2007

Kent Trading Standards are warning householders affected by Saturday's Earthquake across Folkestone, Dover and surrounding areas to take care. If householders believe that their property has been affected by the tremors and needs repairs they should contact their insurance company or landlord in the first instance and report the incident to them.

The earthquake was clearly big news throughout the weekend and this may 'inspire' cowboy builders to cash in.

Householders are advised to be wary of doorstep callers. There are very few household repairs that need to be carried out immediately. If you need to arrange your own repairs, take your time and ask friends and family to recommend reliable tradesmen. Ask for a number of quotes so you can compare prices.

Please report any incidents of doorstep callers to Trading Standards via Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06For information on your rights as a consumer contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.
