Fire closes Channel Tunnel

Seven Kent Fire and Rescue Service appliances and crews are working with their French counterparts at the scene of incident at the Channel Tunnel.

Control room operators received a call to reports an incident at the site at 14:57 this afternoon, and all train traffic through the Channel Tunnel has been suspended according to officials.

No casualties have been reported and the fire is now said to be under control, but it is not expected the tunnel will reopen before Friday.
