Fire in Tontine Street, Folkestone

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has tackled a blaze at a three storey building in Folkestone during the early hours of this morning.

Control room operators received the first call to premises in Tontine Street, at 5.18am. Six engines were sent from Folkestone, Dover, Ashford, Hythe and Sturry and crews wore breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze which had broken out on the first floor.

The building has a ground floor shop with flats above. All residents were accounted for and the fire was all out by 7.58am. Kent Police is also in attendance and the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
