Folkestone & Hythe Council Challenge Government on Scale of Romney Marsh Solar Proposals

Following the consideration of the petition which was presented at Full Council on 1 October 2025, Folkestone and Hythe Council Leader Jim Martin has written to Michael Shanks, the Minister for Energy, to underline the concerns raised about proposals for a number of solar farms in the Romney Marsh Community.
There are currently 3 “industrial” sized proposals mooted in the Romney Marsh area, plus a number of smaller scale projects. It is critical the cumulative impact of sites is considered, and that solar developments are “spread out” and reasonable in scale.
