Tis the season for residents, visitors and businesses to enjoy free festive parking in Folkestone, Hythe and the Romney Marsh this December.

Charges in Folkestone & Hythe District Council car parks and on-street pay and display bays are once again being waived on the three Saturdays leading up to Christmas Day to help support the local economy:

  • Saturday 6 December
  • Saturday 13 December
  • Saturday 20 December

The free car parking applies in all Folkestone & Hythe District Council Car Parks including those in Folkestone, Sandgate, Hythe and across Romney Marsh and North Downs.

Cllr Polly Blakemore – Cabinet Member for Transport, Regulatory Services and Building Control – said:

“Our district is home to a vast range of independent traders, as well as bigger brands, so it is a great place to do Christmas shopping.

“We hope this festive initiative will make the season even more merry for residents and businesses alike.”

Controlled parking and limited waiting (free) restrictions are still in place on the days listed above. This is to ensure people can park close to their homes and allow for a sufficient turnover of spaces.

Residents can also apply for a permit to park in council-run car parks all year round for £80 and quarterly for £20, allowing you to park your vehicle for three hours in long-term car parks and two hours in short-term car parks.

Terms and conditions apply – visit the council’s website for more information.
