Kent Highways Grit Bins / Salt Bins in Cheriton, Hythe East, Sandgate and Saltwood
Grit and salt bins are there to give residents access to grit and salt to deal with freezing surfaces on the roads and pavements.
You'll see salt bins around and about in the area, generally not on the top priority gritting routes, as the Highways team do those directly. But when you need one, can you remember where they are? No matter: there is a map!
The Kent Salt bin map is at https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/what-we-look-after/winter-service-on-our-roads/salt-bins - select the “Find Your Nearest Salt Bin” button then zoom in on your local area. The bins are shown as blue squares in the bins location, and clicking on it gives detailed location and other information.
Bins should be refilled periodically during freezing conditions. If you ever find a bin empty, you can report it for refilling, also at https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/what-we-look-after/winter-service-on-our-roads/salt-bins
