Leak at Dungeness B Power Station

11 Sep 2007

The BBC have reported that fire and rescue crews were sent to Dungeness B nuclear power station in Shepway, Kent. The station was evacuated after a carbon dioxide leak, but Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was a precaution and the incident was minor.

Initial reports suggested the leak came from the relief valve of a bulk cylinder. Staff isolated the valve and stopped the leak within 15 minutes. No radioactive material was released in the incident on Monday morning.
