Leas Lift Saved By Lib Dem Council

15 Jun 2003

Popular local tourist attraction, the Leas Lift, has been saved from closure by the new Lib Dem Council.

Folkestone Councillor Richard Green explained, "Tourism brings much needed money to local businesses and keeps many people in work. To close such a popular attraction as the lift would have been disastrous to tourism in Shepway."

Thanks to action by the new Council, the lift will open every day through July and August and a limited service through Winter. Councillors are also working to get outside funding to help repair and renovate the lift.
