Lower Leas Coastal Park Play Area Opening
The new play area at the award-winning Lower Leas Coastal Park has opened today - we hope you enjoy it!
The £750,000 refurbishment of the south east’s largest free adventure playground – which offers more equipment and inclusive elements than ever before – is now ready to be enjoyed by residents and visitors.
Connor McConville, Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation, said:
“I’m nothing short of amazed at how good everything looks and I’m 100% sure the children of the district are going to give it a big thumbs up.
“The Lower Leas Coastal Park is the district’s flagship play area. Our investment – funded by developer levies (CIL and s106), grants and other council budgets – has really paid off and will delight the next generations.”
Following requests from residents during a public engagement phase, there is additional seating, enhanced accessibility, as well as buggy and cycle parking, for all families to use.
There will be an official opening on Tuesday 4 August with guided tours, children's goodie bags and free ice-cream - all welcome!
