Normandy Veterans Association

A short service of remembrance, led by a chaplain, was held at Christchurch Tower in the Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate road, Folkestone. Touchingly, the Methodist congregation from across the road came out to join the service.

Many of the veterans found it hard to stand for the duration of the service, but wanted to show their respect by starting at the beginning. This was the first time this service has taken place and I found it an honour to be the first Mayor to host such an event.
