Nuclear Dump Consultation Cost Taxpayers THOUSANDS

12 Oct 2012

Conservative Shepway Council's consultation on building a Nuclear Dump has cost all over £40,000.

The shock proposals were put forward by Shepway Council. Expensive consultation letters were sent to 1000's across Romney Marsh.

After the consultation was massively against the idea of burying Nuclear Waste on the Marsh, Shepway councillors eventually grudgingly voted by 2-1 to ditch the plans.

Lynne Beaumont says:

"It was a ridiculous idea from the start: Councillors should have killed this idea before it even started.

"Running the consultation has cost well over £40,000. That money could have been spent on REAL action for jobs in Romney Marsh.

"There should be a REAL vision for getting jobs for Shepway, not a hopeless, dangerous gimmick.

"In the last few days we've heard that a £2bn theme park could be built near Ebbsfleet creating 27,000 jobs.

"Where is that vision in Shepway?"
