Reform UK Kent County Council Cancel Culture

It's not a great start. After the first Full County Council meeting of 22nd May saw Kent County Council elect its new Leader, and she then appointed her Cabinet, a slew of timetabled Council meetings have been cancelled or postponed. In addition, the adminsitration have yet (as of 30/5/25) to confirm which Cabinet Committees (key scrutiny committees, that look at proposals in detail) will be formed, or indeed if they will be formed at all.
For the first three weeks of June, there were FIVE committee meetings timetabled. FOUR have been cancelled (and watch this space for Personnel Committee). The cancelled committee meetings to date are:
- Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee
- Planning Applications Committee
- Governance and Audit Committee
- Regulation Committee

Lib Dem County Councillor for Cheriton, Sandgate & Hythe East Tim Prater commented:
“I thought this administration claimed they wanted to get to work from day one.
"Funny way to show it: no meetings, no scrutiny, no decisions, no direction.
"This isn't Reform. It's paralysis.”
