Remembrance Events in Folkestone November 2009

All Folkestone and Shepway residents are invited to take part and show their respects in the Remembrance services this year being organised by Folkestone Town Council.

The Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance at Christchurch Site, Sandgate Road, will take place at 3.00 pm on Sunday 1 November, where you are invited to join the Town Mayor at this short service.

The customary service and parade will take place on Remembrance Sunday, 8th November. The civic party will walk from the the Leas Cliff Hall at 10.40am, pausing at the RAF Memorial on The Leas, where the Town Mayor will lay a wreath. At 11am, there will be a Silence and Wreath Laying at the War Memorial, followed by the Service. The Town Mayor will then take the Salute on The Leas from the representatives of the military and veterans.

Finally, on Wednesday 11 November, there will be the customary short service at the Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) Memorial at the cemetery in Cheriton Road at 11.00am assembling there at 10.50am.
