There is a meeting of the newly formed Dover, Deal and Shepway NO2ID branch this Monday 19th February at 8:30pm at The Red Lion, Charlton Green, Dover. NO2ID is the UK-wide, non-partisan campaign opposing the government's planned ID card and National Identity Register. It campaigns for the abolition of the ID scheme and repeal of the Identity Cards Act 2006.

The Liberal Democrats in Shepway and nationally have been strong supporters of the NO2ID campaign against Compulsory ID Cards and the associated National ID Database. Shepway Lib Dem members are welcome to attend the NO2ID meeting, and Shepway Lib Dem Chair Tim Prater hopes to attend the branch meeting.

Shepway Lib Dem Chair Tim Prater is a supporter of the campaign, and renewed his passport early last year as a part of the NO2ID Campaign. Tim said:

"With the Government's appalling record with large computer systems, I want to do anything possible NOT be be in the National Identity Register.

"Some people may trust the current Labour Government not to abuse the data such a massive and centralised database could collect, but I'm not of of them!"
