Suspicious Calls reported by Trading Standards

15 Jul 2008

Kent Trading Standards have been alerted to call to elderly homeowners throughout East Kent asking if they were interested in security checks and offering free shredders or marker pens. The call then goes on to ask if there will be anyone else in the house when the trader calls.

The telephone number is withheld and the callers do not give any name.

If you want any security items for your home Trading Standards would suggest that you make your own enquiries with reputable companies or contact your local Neighbourhood Watch for advice. You can find your local Neighbourhood Watch by calling the police on 01622 690690 or by visiting www.kent.police.uk.

Please report similar incidents to Trading Standards via Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06. Always be cautious of calls of this nature, you do not know who is calling you or have any of their details if things go wrong.
