Tim Prater has welcomed the appointment of Connor McConville to Folkestone and Hythe District Council Cabinet as Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation.

Tim says:

“I was disappointed that Connor could not join Cabinet following the 2023 District elections. We work well together, and he would clearly be a huge asset to our district. I'm therefore delighted he has now been offered, and accepted, what will be a really important job over the next few years.

"Getting our structure right, and making sure our local councils have control of the assets and services that matter most to local residents, is critical. It is going to take a great eye for detail, an understanding of the strengths or our Towns and Parishes, and a strategic vision. Connor has them all.”

Connor McConville is one of the four members of the newly formed “Liberal Democrat and Independent” Group on Folkestone and Hythe District Council, and joins Tim Prater and Gary Fuller in Cabinet.

An email to Councillors on 9th May said:

"The Leader has made a number of changes to his Cabinet with effect from 9 May 2025:

  • Councillor Holgate has stepped away from Cabinet, and the Leader has appointed Councillor Butcher to take on his portfolio of Place Plan, Heritage, Tourism and District Economy.
  • Councillor Speakman’s portfolio has changed to Cabinet Member for Waste and Street cleansing, Corporate Health & Safety.
  • Councillor McConville has joined the Cabinet and taken on a portfolio of Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation.

“As a consequential result of this, some changes have been made in respect of Committee appointments, which will be reported to the next ordinary Full Council meeting.”
