West Hythe worries as KCC can't fund traffic scheme

Residents are concerned as vehicles continue to speed along West Hythe Road. Following a meeting with Kent Highways it became clear the funding of a traffic calming scheme would prove difficult. Even providing a modern and inexpensive, solar-powered vehicle speed indicator will not be forthcoming from the County funds.

Hythe West Lib Dem District Councillor Neil Matthews said:

"Fortunately, we haven't yet had a serious accident, but we shouldn't wait around for one to happen".

Neil added:

"I have written to Cllr Capon, our County Councillor, asking for financial help. County Councillors have a 'personal' highways budget and I'm hoping we may be able to secure a commitment of a Speed Indicator Device if Cllr Capon agrees to help us."
