75 Kent Jobs Axed as Seacat Service is Ended
Cross-Channel ferry operator Hoverspeed is to end its service from Dover to Calais, resulting in the loss of "many" jobs, it confirmed on Friday.

New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
About Ashford Constituency
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Ashford will (pretty ridiculously, in our opinion) include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of North Downs East and North Downs West, in addtion to the Ashford Borough Council seats of:
Aylesford & East Stour, Beaver, Bircholt, Bockhanger, Bybrook, Conningbrook & Little Burton Farm, Furley, Goat Lees, Godinton, Highfield, Kennington, Mersham, Sevington South with Finberry, Norman, Park Farm North, Park Farm South, Repton, Roman, Singleton East, Singleton West, Stanhope, Victoria, Washford, Willesborough, Wye with Hinxhill.
The Ashford seat therefore stretches pretty much to the coast, across an area that in no way could be called Ashford: Ashford and North Downs, maybe.
Lib Dems back Herald Recycling survey and launch Petition
Shepway Lib Dems have backed the local "Herald" newspapers recycling survey, and are encouraging local residents to to take. They have also launched their own petition calling for Shepway's Conservative Council leaders to listen to local residents' concerns about the new recycling scheme and make the necessary changes to address these problems.

Shepway Failing on Energy Efficiency
Shepway Council is amongst the 14 worst performing councils in the south East on achieving energy efficiency improvements in line with government targets, according to a recent report. Out of 67 Local Authorities in the South East, Shepway are the 52nd worst performers. Nearby local authorities Dover, Ashford, Thanet and Canterbury all performed better.
