New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
As reported in the Folkestone Herald, plans to build 41 new homes at the former Shepway Resource Centre on Military Road, Sandgate go to Shepway Development Control next week.
East Kent College, fresh from taking over bits of the hopelessly failing K College, has ridden in on their proverbial white charger to save Canterbury College.
Sandgate Councillor Kurt Stephens has slammed Shepway Council for not working with Sandgate Parish Council to seek to keep Sandgate High Street as a "mainly commercial" area.
