New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
Commenting on the news that the Conservatives have u-turned on the introduction of a cap on care costs, former Care Minister, Liberal Democrat MP Norman Lamb, who took the legislation through Parliament said:
I was relieved MEPs rejected a controversial proposal that would require photographers to get permission from copyright holders before commercially using photos of landmarks and public places.
The Liberal Democrats won two seats in South East England last night, reinforcing a trend of good Lib Dem local election results since the General Election.
