Y11/0537/SH. Sometimes you lose.
At last nights Shepway Development Control meeting last night, I presented the views of Sandgate Parish Council against application Y11/0537/SH, described as:
New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.

Paul Carter, Conservative Leader of Kent County Council, has refuted suggestions in the press that KCC would like to see all Kent schools convert to academies. He made a statement in July 2011 saying that Kent did not want to see all schools change to academies.
There are Parish Polls / referendums across Folkestone, Hythe and Sandgate on Thursday 8th December with polls open from 4-9pm and NO polling cards or postal votes to be issued: you simply turn up to vote at your polling station.
