About Folkestone and Hythe Constituency

From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.

The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.

Sandgate Parish Referendum Poll Date Announced

The people of Sandgate will be able to have their say on whether their local council should be a parish or town administration in a poll on 12 June. Sandgate Council's annual meeting on 13 May called for the poll, which will ask people to vote yes or no to the following question:

Stacks Back: French Port Blockade Forces M20 Coastbound Closure

Strike action by French fishermen has led to the implementation of Operation Stack on the M20 in Kent to ease jams caused by Dover-bound lorries. The Port of Dover to all ferry traffic after the ports of Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne were blockaded, and there have been no sailings since 6am.
