Morning updates on road conditions received from Kent County Council. Police are once again reminding people that they shouldn't try to drive today unless it is absolutely necessary and should clear their cars properly before setting off.
Over 27,000 young people turned out to vote in this year's Kent Youth County Council elections. There were 145 polling stations at schools and youth centres and the elected members have now been chosen for each district.
Update from Southeastern trains, Midday, 1 December: We are advised by the Met Office that more snow is expected today and rail services in and out of London are likely to be severely disrupted. Our advice to commuters using Southeastern services who managed to get into work today, is to leave London as early as possible.
Today a plaque, designed and funded by the Sandgate Society to commemorate William Wilberforce's part in the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in 1807, was erected on the North Lane side of the Sandgate Chichester Hall.

This Wednesday 1 December starting at 7pm at Quarterhouse, Tontine Street, celebrity guest auctioneer Michael Hogben will be hosting the Town Mayor of Folkestone's Christmas Charity Auction. With 32 lots of art donated from artists across the area, the auction is a great opportunity to pick up a work of art and support the Mayors Charities - B-4-8s and the Rainbow Centre.

Dog fouling on pavements and highways are often raised as an issue by Shepway residents. At a recent meeting of Shepway Council's Corporate Scrutiny Committee, questions were asked about the number of enforcement officers employed and penalty notices issued for Dog Fouling. There is one Dog Warden, and three fixed penalty notices have been issued in the last 12 months, with no prosecutions.
With regret, due to the forecast weather this afternoon and evening, tonight's (Saturday 27th November) Shepway Liberal Democrat Race Night at Hythe Sports Pavilion has been postponed.
Anuradha Koirala, Chairperson of Maiti Nepal, has won the world prestigious CNN Heroes Award 2010 in Los Angeles. Anuradha became the first ever Nepalese women to win the award in recognition of her tireless contribution and fighting against a society free from trafficking of children and women around the world.
