Outrage at MOD Response to Call for Military Cross for Walter Tull

Local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller has expressed his outrage that the letter to Folkestone Town Council outlining the refusal of the Ministry of Defence to confer a posthumous Military Cross upon Lieutenant Walter Tull, the first black officer to serve in the British Army, seems to be based upon the premise that to do so might allow others to receive the award.

The Liberal Democrats have asked questions to the full Shepway Council meeting of 19th February on issues as diverse as the Shepway's response to the Credit Crunch, uncollected Shepway Parking fines, moves towards merging Shepway with other local authorities, the Greatstone Governance review and upholding the Council constitution.

Change of Date: East Kent Joint Scrutiny Committee

Following the re-timetabling of the next East Kent Joint Area Committee, the East Kent Joint Scrutiny Committee planned for 31 March 2009 has been moved to a new date of 28 April 2009 at 9am in the Council Chamber, Shepway Civic Centre.
