Met office: Kent Gale Warnings

A Met Office Severe Weather Warning has been issued for Kent, saying that gale force southwesterly winds are expected during much of the daytime on Thursday across Kent. Gusts of 70 mph are possible at times, especially near the coast.

Fight GOTT: The Campaign for a Fair Deal for Gurkhas Continues

This weekend, Cheriton in Folkestone becomes the centre of the ongoing fight to get a fair deal on pensions and citizenship rights for ex-Gurkha soldiers. An ITV news crew will be in Cheriton, near the Gurkha's UK Shornecliffe Barracks, to make a documentary which reveals the continuing unfair treatment of ex-Gurkha soldiers.

Folkestone Post Office Move Date Confirmed

Folkestone's main post office will re-open in WHSmith's in Sandgate Road on March 6, replacing the existing post office in Bouverie Place. The move comes despite wide spread local resistance to the move, which will see the main Bouverie Place office close.

Shepway's Hokey-Cokey Cabinet: Waters Rejoins

Shepway Council Leader Robert Bliss has announced that Cllr Carole Waters is rejoining the Shepway Cabinet with immediate effect as District Secretary for Regeneration, Sport & Culture. The cabinet of 7 was increased by the new Conservative administration to 10 in May 2007 at a cost of around £25,000 a year in expenses to Shepway tax payers.

Lydd airshow has been cancelled this summer because it failed to attract a sponsor. The airshow had its debut in 2006 and was attended by 40,000 people.
