Consultation Announced on Cheriton Tesco Expansion Plan
Tesco has announced plans to extend it's store in Cheriton, Folkestone, and will will be launching an exhibition of the proposals in the store next month. The proposed expansion of the store would increase the current floor area from around 6,500 sq. metres with 401 car parking spaces to 10,200 sq. metres with 633 parking spaces.

Footpath Improvements on Horn Street, Folkestone: Temporary Traffic Lights from 17 September
Kent Highways have announced they are planning to improve the existing pedestrian facilities in Horn Street, Cheriton at the junction of Queens Avenue (private MOD road). The aim of the scheme is to improve the existing footways, enabling pedestrians and pupils from St Martins Primary School to cross Horn Street at a safer location.

Pfizer to End Manufacturing in East Kent: 400 Jobs to be Lost
Pfizer has today announced its intention to cease all remaining manufacturing operations in Sandwich, Kent. The closure of manufacturing operations at Sandwich is expected to result in the loss of approximately 420 jobs, phased over the next two years.

Leak at Dungeness B Power Station
The BBC have reported that fire and rescue crews were sent to Dungeness B nuclear power station in Shepway, Kent. The station was evacuated after a carbon dioxide leak, but Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was a precaution and the incident was minor.

Has Shepway Council Ignored a Binding Decision Notice in Cheriton Rec Development Application?
Shepway Council has so far refused to comment on the legality of its decision to seek planning permission to build 6 houses on a section of Cheriton Recreation Ground on Weymouth Road. A challenge by Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater to the process sent on 30 August has yet to receive a response.
