Folkestone Acts on Shameful State of Litter Bins

Folkestone Town Council has agreed to act on the shameful state of street litter bins across Folkestone Town Centre. At their full Council meeting last night, a programme costing up to £3,000 to repaint key bins in the centre of town to improve the look of the Town Centre was agreed.

Charivari returns to Folkestone

The remarkable spectacle of Charivari returns to Folkestone this Saturday (14 July). The carnival procession starts in Castle Hill Avenue at 2.30pm, and processes around town to arrive on The Leas between 3 and 3.30pm.

Liberal Democrats Propose 4p Cut in Income Tax

Radical tax plans that will take the basic rate of income tax to its lowest level since 1916 were unveiled today by the Liberal Democrats. The move to cut the basic rate by four pence in the pound will reduce the basic rate of income tax to 16p, benefiting millions of people on low and middle incomes.

New Shepway Council Tax Exemption

A new class of council tax exemption has been introduced by Shepway Council. It adds to the exemption already in place that waives council tax on a property left empty because someone has had to leave it to care for a person who is old, disabled or ill. The new exemption will cover a home left empty when someone has to move out to provide care for children.
