Kent Police have had numerous reports within the Folkestone area in relation to an unknown person targeting insecure vehicles in the early hours of the morning.
County Councillor Tim Prater has been advised that the call-in for the Folkestone Library Decision has been assessed and determined as valid. As a consequence, a Scrutiny Committee meeting will need to be held soon to consider the call-in.
Sandgate's campaign to get Granville Parade designated a bathing beach has had a massive boost. The government has accepted the Parish Council's application and it is included among 13 new designated swimming sites nationally proposed by the government.
To bring together ideas, Folkestone & Hythe District Council is inviting anyone interested in the Town of Culture campaign to join a workshop at the Leas Cliff Hall on 24 February. The workshops are free to attend and begin at 2pm, 4pm & 6pm.
The Big Green Fair 2026 will be held on 7th June, by kind permission of Saga, in Sandgate's Enbrook Park. The fair is for people that care about where they live, their climate and nature, and show they care by taking action and making a difference.
Hythe Sports and Fitness Festival 2026, a community-driven event designed to increase local participation in sports and fitness. The Festival will be held 11th-19th July, with the big day on 11th July at South Road Playing Fields and Sports Pavilion.
To bring together initial ideas, Folkestone & Hythe District Council is inviting anyone (residents and organisations) interested in being involved in a Town of Culture 2028 bid to workshops at the Leas Cliff Hall on Tuesday 24 February.
A budget that allows for support to reopen Folkestone Sports Centre, renovate Hythe Pool, a new leisure facility at Martello Lakes, develop Folca2, keeps the Council Tax rise under 3%, funds new Council Owned temporary Accomodation and is balanced.
What’s really exciting is this is not just a plan for use from 2028, but that it's a real start on this project in a few weeks time.
