KCC Council Tax soars over £1000 under the Conservatives
Kent Conservatives plan to raise the County Council portion of the Council Tax bill by an increase of 3.9%. This brings the Kent county Council (KCC) share on a Band D property to over £1000 for the first time ever, a rise of £37.62 a year.

Lib Dems: Folkestone Fire Service Consultation Misleading and Cuts Should be Cancelled
New research by the Liberal Democrats has shown up serious flaws in the information provided by Kent Fire and Rescue Service in their consultation on proposed cuts to Folkestone Fire Stations. The Liberal Democrats are saying that the information that has been provided in the consultation is misleading and not true.

Stack in Operation: Folkestone and Hythe cut-off
Operation Stack (the closure of sections of the coast-bound M20) is again bringing chaos across Folkestone and Hythe. Phase 1 of Operation Stack (M20 closure Eastbound from J11 to J12) has been in place since yesterday as cross-channel services were disrupted by high winds. The backlog from that disruption and new delays due to a blockade of Calais by French fishermen has caused the implementation of the second stage of Operation Stack (closure Eastbound J8 Maidstone to J9 Ashford).

Severe Weather Warning for Shepway
The Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for Kent, predicting a 60% chance of heavy and persistent rain to spread across Kent from the west during Tuesday 15th January, with up to 25mm likely in places. That rain will be accompanied by strong southerly winds with gusts to gale or severe gale force over South Eastern England.
