Kent Police event charging policy established
From 1 April 2008, Kent Police will charge for the majority of events, which require police presence, in line with guidelines set out by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).

New keyholder scheme for Kent businesses and householders
Residents and businesses can now benefit from a new keyholder service developed in partnership with Kent Police. Kent KeyLink is a not-for-profit based-based service providing police with information on your nominated point of contact allowing access to a property or business in the event anything untoward should happen.

Hythe Town Beat Dover in FA Cup Qualifier
Hythe Town Football Club celebrated a 2-1 win against Dover Athletic at Reachfields on Saturday. Ex-Mayor of Hythe Neil Matthews was at the match to cheer on Hythe and delighted with result and the boost to the town.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has published a useful guide to EU funding sources for environmental projects. The guide covers the funding period 2007-2013 and deals with topics ranging from nature conservation to reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and sustainable transport.

Free Competition to Win a Job in Europe
EURES, the European job mobility service, is running a competition that will give 50 Europeans the opportunity to work in another European country for a period of at least four months. Anyone who is over 18 and has not previously worked, studied or done an internship abroad can apply.

The process for selecting the candidates for the Liberal Democrat list for the South East of England for the European Parliament elections is now well underway. The European Commission has launched a web site that will allow entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to provide the EU executive with tips on improving European legislation and reducing the bureaucratic red tape faced by businesses.

Folkestone in the News: Triennial Launch in the Guardian
The Guardian has covered the launch of the new Folkestone Triennial, saying: "Yesterday the inaugural Folkestone triennial was announced, a public art project to involve commissions by a blue-chip line-up of artists including Tracey Emin, Mark Wallinger, Nathan Coley, Tacita Dean, Richard Wentworth and Richard Wilson from Britain, and international figures such as Mark Dion and Christian Boltanski."
