A man has been shot dead by police during a Flying Squad operation to prevent a suspected armed robbery attempt in New Romney. The policeman involved in the shooting has since been named as one of the two officers who shot Charles De Menezes last year at Stockwell Tube Station.
Kent Police have lost £52,000 of the money they spent preparing for the force mergers which abandoned in July.
