On Wednesday 20th February, the Kent Fire Authority is meeting to decide whether to implement cuts to the Fire Service in Folkestone. The proposed cuts will mean the loss of 24 firefighters, a full time fire engine, and an extendable turntable ladder from Folkestone and the surrounding area.

Kent Trading Standards wish to alert the public to a recent incidence of unsolicited telephone calls targeted at elderly residents across the County. The phone calls are from a security system company who use very hard sell tactics and lies in order to obtain an appointment at the consumer's home.

One consumer was recently cold called by telephone after advertising her car for sale in a popular car selling magazine. She was told that there were people who wanted to buy her car and if a payment of £99.50 was made there and then, the trader would put the buyers in touch with the seller.
