Trading Standards Warn On Home Security System Scam

Kent Trading Standards wish to alert the public to a recent incidence of unsolicited telephone calls targeted at elderly residents across the County. The phone calls are from a security system company who use very hard sell tactics and lies in order to obtain an appointment at the consumer's home.

Kent Car Scam Warning

Kent Trading Standards are warning of a new scam targeting local residents selling cars. One consumer was recently cold called by telephone after advertising her car for sale in a popular car selling magazine. She was told that there were people who wanted to buy her car and if a payment of £99.50 was made there and then, the trader would put the buyers in touch with the seller.

Shepway Business Waste Recycling Service from Kent Community Recycling

Kent Community Recycling offers a business waste recycling service to businesses in Folkestone and Hythe. Following the withdrawal of the service provided by Shepway District Council, Kent Community Recycling stepped in to offer a service which would ensure materials are correctly recycled; whilst saving businesses money, and at the same time enabling them to raise funds for charities of their choice via their Exchange Scheme.
