In May, The Liberal Democrats took control of Folkestone Town Council, winning 11 of the 18 seats. Taking control has given us the chance to make sure we follow through on our promise to make Folkestone Greener, and in the first few months have got off to a flying start!

Will new University Boost Folkestone Property Prices?

New research from Halifax Estate Agents highlights that 20 university towns across the UK recorded an increase in house prices of 20% or more over the past year, close to double the nationwide increase of 11%. With University Centre Folkestone due to welcome its first degree students in September, many believe local property prices are likely to be boosted further.

New Romney Coast Lib Dem Councillor Val Loseby will be holding her next surgery on Saturday 18th August. The surgery, for New Romney Coast residents to raise any problems they may have directly with her, will be from 10-12 noon at the Assembly Rooms (in the Foyer area), Church Approach, New Romney.

Despite writing to Shepway District Council about the shocking state of the Garden of Remembrance over nine months ago, Lib Dem Town Councillor Gary Fuller was upset to find, during the VJ Day Remembrance Service held there on Wednesday, that no action has been taken to repair the damage to the bins or the surrounding wall.

Lib Dem Cheriton Councillor Dhan Gurung has met with the Nepalese Prime Minister, members of the Government and other Party Leaders during his holiday with family in Nepal. Dhan had simply arranged to meet up with family during his stay this August, but was then surprised and delighted to receive the invitations.
