New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Ashford will (pretty ridiculously, in our opinion) include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of North Downs East and North Downs West, in addtion to the Ashford Borough Council seats of:
Aylesford & East Stour, Beaver, Bircholt, Bockhanger, Bybrook, Conningbrook & Little Burton Farm, Furley, Goat Lees, Godinton, Highfield, Kennington, Mersham, Sevington South with Finberry, Norman, Park Farm North, Park Farm South, Repton, Roman, Singleton East, Singleton West, Stanhope, Victoria, Washford, Willesborough, Wye with Hinxhill.
The Ashford seat therefore stretches pretty much to the coast, across an area that in no way could be called Ashford: Ashford and North Downs, maybe.

With planned changes to the Kent Freedom Pass to be discussed by KCC on 13-12-13, there are a number of questions that need to be answered. The changes, which would be reviewed after a period of six months, would result in the introduction of a smartcard scheme for students between the ages of 11 and 19, with 11-16 year olds receiving £350 worth of bus travel for £100 and 16-19 year olds receiving £250 worth of bus travel for £100. The current scheme offers free unlimited travel to 11-16 year olds for £100 and a recent campaign has called for this to be extended to 16-19 year olds.
Visit Kent are working on a project called Liberation Route Europe, which looks at developing a remembrance trail and a website / database of stories and places of interest related to the liberated sites of Europe in WW2.
