About Folkestone and Hythe Constituency

From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.

The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.

Folkestone Gallery commissions H G Wells inspired art

In support of the Folkestone Book Festival the Neville Pundole Gallery has specially commissioned pieces by several artists, inspired by the works of H. G. Wells. The exhibition is comprised of works in Pottery, Glass and Paint; all drawing their influence from not only Wells' more famous works such as "The War of the Worlds" and "The Time Machine", but also "The Sea Lady… a Tissue of Moonshine" which Wells wrote whilst living in Folkestone.

National Bus Pass Scheme to become Kent Responsibility in 2011

Folkestone Councillor Tim Prater has been told that responsibility for the national bus pass scheme will pass from District Councils to Kent and Medway Councils from April 2011. The news came in response to an email from Tim Prater to Kent County Cabinet member for Transport Nick Chard asking for Kent to consider taking on the responsibility which will have cost Shepway District Council around £1 million in the last two years.

You Decide! Grant funding day for Folkestone West this Saturday

A new scheme to allow local residents decide which projects they want to see backed with County grants will be launched in Folkestone this Saturday by Lib Dem Tim Prater. County Councillor Tim Prater is the first in Folkestone to give power direct to local residents to decide on which projects they want to see backed with £15,000 of grant funding.
