Having been involved with the fundraising team for the Pilgrim's Hospice for many years, it feels like I am one of the community rather than a guest. The monthly Coffee Morning is more than just fund raising. It is an opportunity for the team to regroup and socialise. I am delighted that the event is so well supported by the people of Folkestone and I am sure it will continue to be so.

Very soon the Leas Cliff Hall will not be big enough for all the young performers to fit onto! During whole cast songs, the youngsters packed the space and the sound filled the auditorium.
This weekend is the annual Sandgate Sea and Food Festival. The festival is launched on Saturday night (28th August) with live music and fireworks on the sea front. The evening kicks off at 7:30pm and the fireworks display will go off at dusk (around 9 pm).
Over 25% of residents in Royal Military Avenue, Cheriton have returned surveys giving their views on the recent works by Kent Highways in the road and their view of the impact of the work. The huge majority of results so far say the scheme has made no difference or worsened speeding in the road, and also that parking in the road is worse than before the works took place.
After repeated requests to Kent Highways from local Councillor Tim Prater for a number of street light columns in Risborough Lane, Cheriton, to be repainted, Kent Highways have surveyed the lights and found the columns failed their structural tests. The lights are now being replaced with new columns - most have already been replaced, with the remaining 2 to be completed shortly.

Kent Highways have advised that because of a sewer collapse, it will be necessary to close Warren Road, Folkestone. This is due to commence from 24 August 2010 and it is likely the road will be closed for up to 2 weeks as a result of these emergency sewer repair works.
