Local Councillor questions Shepway on joint local authority plans

Shepway Liberal Democrat Councillor Tim Prater has put a question to the next Shepway Full Council meeting (Thursday 19th Feb) asking if there are any plans at the Council or within the ruling Conservative Group to work towards a joint local authority with Dover or other nearby authorities.

Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater is working with local residents in Valebrook Close, Cheriton, to get a long standing public footpath from Valebrook Close to Pond Hill Road re-opened after a barbed wire topped fence cut off access.

Kent warning on premium cost welfare benefit advice lines

Kent County Council has been made aware of companies offering advice on welfare benefits via premium rate telephone services costing in the region of £1.50 per minute. There is nothing in law to stop a business from doing this but Kent advise claimants and potential claimants to remember that benefit advice can be obtained for free from other sources.
