Strike action by French fishermen has led to the implementation of Operation Stack on the M20 in Kent to ease jams caused by Dover-bound lorries. The Port of Dover to all ferry traffic after the ports of Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne were blockaded, and there have been no sailings since 6am.

Ministers are to consider plans for a database of electronic information holding details of every phone call and e-mail sent in the UK, it has emerged. Folkestone East ward Councillor Anthony Dunning has resigned from the Liberal Democrats, and the Liberal Democrat group on Shepway District Council. Well over 100 Sandgate residents attended the Sandgate Town Meeting at Sandgate Library on Tuesday evening to call for a referendum on changing Sandgate back from a "Town" administration to a "Parish" one. The referendum was agreed after a huge vote in support at the meeting.
