Big welcome to news of new Leas Lift Operators

Shepway Councillor Tim Prater has warmly welcomed news (http://tinyurl.com/23v76fo) that the Folkestone Leas Lift will be operated by a group led by local historian Eamonn Rooney, and has wished the new company every success.

Keith Bennett and Aster Hall welcomed the Mayor to B-4-8s in Town Walk, Folkestone and described the excellent work that they do. David Dickinson also welcomed the Mayor and shared some past experiences about the help that the charity has been able to give.

Oriac House IT Learning Centre

It is a great pleasure to open new initiatives in Folkestone. The new Oriac House Learning Centre in the Glenmore Centre, Shearway Business Park will encourage companies to train staff upwards in anticipation for promotion or new employment rather than as a reward for past work. This is especially good for younger people.

National Windsurfing Championships

The Mayor was pleased to hear from so many people that they considered Folkestone to be one of the best venues they have experienced this year. The provision of enclosed trailer parking on the car park at the seafront. People appreciated and commended the Coastal Park for the children and families whilst waiting for their races.

Cheriton High Street Reopened

Cheriton High Street, Cheriton has now been re-opened (afternoon Friday 28th May) after investigations into subsidence in the road. The carriageway subsidence was caused by a collapsed sewer pipe which has now been repaired, and the road closure signage is currently being collected.
